"They've seen each other for the sake of the kids but have been living separately. Kim knows the marriage is over. She's known for a while," said a source.
When Kim Kardashian and Kanye West announced their relationship in 2012 and consequent marriage in 2014, the news took the world by storm. The couple seemed were madly in love with each other and when they had their four kids, they looked like the perfect family. In fact, fans loved them together so much that they even dubbed the couple Kimye (Kim and Kanye). However, after six years of marriage, it looks like the love story has reached its end.
According to Today, Kanye and Kim are living separately and are in couples counseling, a source close to the family confirmed. Meanwhile, multiple other sources told Page Six that “divorce is imminent” for the Hollywood couple, with Kim hiring Laura Wasser, who is a divorce attorney to the stars. “They are keeping it low-key but they are done,” said a source. “Kim has hired Laura Wasser and they are in settlement talks.”
For a while now, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star hasn't been spotted wearing her wedding ring and has been living with their four children, North, 7, Saint, 5, Chicago, 2, and Psalm, 1 in their Calabasas, California family home. Meanwhile, the No Church In The Wild rapper is staying at his $14 million Wyoming ranch. “Kim got Kanye to go up there [Wyoming] so they could live separate lives and quietly get things sorted out to separate and divorce. She’s done,” the source continued, according to Page Six.
However, this isn't the first time we've heard of issues cropping up between the couple. As per Vanity Fair, recent reports revealed that their relationship was on the rocks, especially during Kanye's attempt at launching a presidential campaign in the summer of 2020. He had delivered a tearful monologue at a political rally and mentioned in a series of since-deleted tweets that Kim was trying to have him hospitalized. “Kim was trying to fly to Wyoming with a doctor to lock me up like on the movie Get Out because I cried about saving my daughter's life yesterday,” he wrote at the time, according to Today.
The socialite addressed her husband's behavior in a statement after the incident and shared her support of him. "As many of you know, Kanye has bi-polar disorder," she wrote on her Instagram story. "Anyone who has this or a loved one in their life who does, knows how incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand." However, it looks like her support ended there. According to Vanity Fair, after a series of manic tweets written by Kanye in 2020, a source claimed, “It’s the same thing over and over and over again. He’s on very thin ice with her right now, and she’s truly trying to decide what to do to protect the kids, but also her own sanity.”
The source who spoke to Page Six said, “Now this divorce is happening because Kim has grown up a lot. She is serious about taking the bar exam and becoming a lawyer, she is serious about her prison reform campaign. Meanwhile, Kanye is talking about running for president and saying other crazy s–t, and she’s just had enough of it.”
On the other hand, a separate source told the outlet that Kanye, who became increasingly uncomfortable and irritated by the Kardashians’ over-the-top reality star lives, “Is completely over the entire family … He wants nothing to do with them,” adding that he started finding their reality show “unbearable.” He tweeted in July 2020, “I been trying to get divorced since Kim met with Meek at the Warldolf [sic] for ‘prison reform,’” which seems to refer to the criminal justice summit attended by Kim and rapper Meek Mill in November 2018.
As for the kids, a source told Today that the couple is “100% aligned when it comes to the kids." They added that the couple is dealing with "regular relationship issues" and there is "no one else involved." However, Kim hasn't officially filed for divorce yet. "It's gotten to the point where they haven't spent time together as a married couple in months," a source told E! News exclusively. "They've seen each other for the sake of the kids but have been living separately. Kim knows the marriage is over. She's known for a while."
So why hasn't it been made official yet? Because the mother-of-four "wants to make sure she's making the right decision for the kids." Only time will tell us what will become of the once-upon-a-time celebrity power couple.
